Nestled in the heart of River North, Chicago, Illinois, the Green Door Tavern has been home to thousands of celebrations and memories since 1921. As Chicago’s oldest tavern, the Green Door has been the genesis of numerous couples, marriages and families, and the building’s rich history will provide the perfect setting for a wedding day as unique and timeless as your love story. From saying “I do” in our prohibition era speakeasy, the Drifter, to celebrating in true Chicago style with your loved ones in the Green Door Tavern, our team is dedicated to making your big day ideal and stress free, while still being affordable.
Sundays 12:00pm-4:00pm: starting at $9,500
- Venue guest access from 12:00pm-4:00pm
- Up to 40 guests for an intimate ceremony in The Drifter
- Ceremony includes: stage setting, seating, and a complimentary champagne toast
- Up to 100 guests for a reception in The Green Door Tavern
- Reception includes: tables, chairs, plate ware, silverware, a buffet style meal, and open bar.

Are there any additional fees for your venue?
Only Taxes and Gratuity. Our primary objective is to provide a venue that offers a unique and memorable wedding celebration without the exorbitant costs and hidden fees. The only changes in your package price would be due to upgrades or add-on’s to your day!
Will anyone be on-site the day of my event?
We will have a venue coordinator on-site for the entirety of your wedding day to ensure everything related to the venue, food and drink goes smoothly on our end.
Can we bring in additional vendors and decor?
While we provide the venue, food, and beverage, you are more than welcome to bring your own florals, decor, and vendors. However, your team will be responsible for any additional set up or breakdown outside of our provided amenities.
The bridal party and contracted vendors will be allowed one hour of set up time, and one and a half hours for breakdown of any additional decor.
Do you allow open flames?
As the oldest wood frame structure in downtown Chicago, sadly, we do not allow open flames in the space.
Can we hold a rehearsal dinner the evening before?
Of course! We do it all the time.
Is your venue wheelchair accessible?
The Green Door is wheelchair accessible. The Drifter is on the lower level and due to its age and status of an original speakeasy, it is not accessible.
What is your date holding and booking process?
After touring our venue and discussing the overall terms of our offerings, our event coordinator will work with you one on one to book your date.
When can we book a tour?
Please complete the contact form above and an event coordinator will contact you promptly after it is submitted. But don’t worry, we will not continue to bother you once you submit an inquiry. Our entire mission is to provide a stress free experience in a unique and fun environment for your special day.

What if I want to have my wedding at a different time?
We can accommodate your special day at any time, but please note that the special pricing listed in this wedding package is for the 12:00pm-4:00pm timeframe. If you choose to book your wedding for a later time, the package pricing will vary.
